Top-Selling Food and Beverage Products on E-commerce in 2020

Technological advancements have driven the growth of digital-based businesses, commonly known as *e-commerce*. The Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) recorded that 25.25% of businesses in Indonesia were engaged in *e-commerce* activities until December 2020.

In terms of goods/services sold on *e-commerce* platforms, food, beverages, and food ingredients were the most sold in 2020. Businesses selling food, beverages, and food ingredients accounted for 40.86% of all businesses.

The next most sold goods/services category was fashion, with a proportion of 20.71%. This was followed by household goods and cosmetics, each accounting for 10.3% and 8.05%, respectively.

From the producer's perspective, the majority of *e-commerce* business owners are millennials aged 35-44 years (33.07%) and 25-34 years (24.79%). Meanwhile, the majority of *e-commerce* owners have a high school diploma or equivalent or lower (75.36%).

More than half (54.66%) of *e-commerce* businesses sell online through social media such as *Facebook*, *Instagram*, *Twitter*, and others. Only 21.64% of businesses have sales accounts on marketplaces/digital platforms.
