35-44 Year Olds Dominate Indonesian Internet Users

In 2016, the total number of active internet users in Indonesia reached 132.7 million. According to data from the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII), approximately 29.2 percent of these users were aged between 35 and 44 years old. Furthermore, the second largest category, comprising 24.4 percent, was the 24-34 age group. Teenagers aged 10-24 years old accounted for 18.4 percent of total internet users. Only 10 percent of users were over 55 years old.

Internet penetration in Indonesia is steadily increasing. This 2016 APJII survey indicates that 56 percent of the Indonesian population had access to the internet. This figure is expected to continue growing in line with technological advancements and the increasing need for internet access in daily life. Young adults (25-44 years old) still dominate internet usage. This is unsurprising, as internet access is now considered essential for almost all activities, including the business world.
