This is Why Indonesian Citizens Play Roblox

A Populix survey reveals that one in three Indonesian respondents admitted to playing Roblox. The game, according to Populix's report on Saturday, August 23, 2025, is enjoyed across generations, with Generation Z males comprising the majority of players.

The majority of respondents (63%) cited entertainment and stress relief as their primary reasons for playing Roblox. Eleven percent played for socialization and making new friends, followed by 9% who joined because their friends were already playing, and 7% who found Roblox easy to play on various devices. Five percent played to hone their creativity and imagination, while another 5% gave other reasons.

The Populix survey was conducted online via the PopPoll app from August 20-21, 2025, involving 1,131 respondents.

Potential for Blocking in Indonesia

Previously, the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Abdul Mu'ti, banned elementary school students from playing Roblox, deeming it harmful and containing excessive violence. "When using cell phones, children shouldn't watch violent content, fights, or bad language. They shouldn't watch anything useless. Don't play Roblox, it's not good," Mu'ti stated, as reported by Katadata on Monday, August 4, 2025.

In response, the Minister of State Secretary, Prasetyo Hadi, stated that the government is considering blocking games with violent content if they are proven to negatively impact the younger generation.
