According to a survey by the Institute for Development of Economics and Finance (INDEF), Gojek is currently the most widely used online transportation service among Indonesian consumers.
The application developed by PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia was used by 82% of respondents. The proportion of those using online transportation services from Grab, Maxim, and InDriver was smaller, as shown in the graph.
"82% of respondents stated that they use Gojek's online transportation services even though they have other applications," said INDEF.
"This data also shows that even though consumers have other applications like Maxim or InDriver, they also have the Gojek application as their primary choice," they continued.
According to INDEF, this preference is influenced by consumer satisfaction with the performance of each brand's application.
In terms of ease of application use, Gojek received a consumer satisfaction score of 3.39 on a scale of 0-4. This is higher than Grab, which received a score of 3.27, and above the average for the online transportation industry, which scored 3.30.
"Consumers rate Gojek as the most satisfying brand because it provides the highest sense of security for consumers," added INDEF.
INDEF also found that more than half of the respondents (56%) stated they would continue using online transportation services even without promotions.
Furthermore, the majority of respondents (60%) intend to increase their use of online transportation as mobility recovers post-pandemic.
"In general, the results of the INDEF survey show that the online transportation and logistics industry is quite resilient even amidst economic uncertainty, as previously experienced during mobility restrictions at the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic," said INDEF.
"Demand for online transportation services, for example, tends to be stable and even increase after the easing of mobility restrictions as it is now, with the average frequency of use per user being 4-12 times per week," added INDEF.
INDEF conducted this survey during August-September 2022 in Jabodetabek, Bandung, Palembang, Bali, Yogyakarta, and Palembang.
A total of 2,310 respondents participated, all of whom were online transportation consumers. 51.6% of respondents were male and 48.4% were female.
The majority of respondents were aged between 20-30 years (54.16%) and 30-49 years (43.2%), with an average monthly income of Rp 2.5 million - Rp 5 million (25.66%).
