Knight Frank, a UK-based property consultancy, has mapped the number and distribution of high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) globally. These individuals are defined as those possessing assets exceeding US$10 million, or over Rp167.9 billion (assuming an exchange rate of Rp16,790/US$).
Their latest report, *The Wealth Report 2025*, states that there were 2.34 million HNWIs worldwide in 2024, a 4.4% increase from 2023.
Broken down by industry, the manufacturing sector had the highest number of HNWIs, with 500 individuals. This was followed by the technology sector with 443, finance and investment with 353, and fashion and retail with 318.
The healthcare sector had 284 HNWIs, while the food and beverage, real estate, and automotive sectors also featured in the top 10.
The United States had the largest population of HNWIs, with 905,413 individuals, representing 38.7% of the global total in 2024. China followed with 471,634 HNWIs (20.1%), and Japan with 122,119 (5.2%).
"Despite the global economic slowdown throughout 2024, the resilience of the US economy helped maintain investor confidence," wrote Knight Frank in its report.
