Some Indonesian consumers plan to reduce their spending this year's Ramadan. This is evident from a Populix survey report titled *Shopping Behavior during Ramadan 2025*.
According to the report, in previous Ramadans, 90% of respondents usually purchased food and beverage products.
However, those planning to continue buying these products during Ramadan 2025 decreased to 87%.
Furthermore, 78% of respondents previously usually shopped for clothing and fashion items. But, those planning to continue buying these products decreased to 55%.
"Although it remains a top priority every Ramadan, this year fashion product purchases are predicted to drop drastically," wrote Populix in its report.
A similar decrease occurred in other product types, such as household goods, electronics, motor vehicles, and land and buildings, with proportions as shown in the graph.
"Therefore, businesses must offer attractive deals, such as discounts or bundling, to attract the interest of consumers who are now more careful in managing their expenses," said Populix.
Populix conducted this online survey from December 6-9, 2024, involving 1,119 respondents. Respondents consisted of 51% women and 49% men.
Based on their religion, 89% of respondents were Muslim, 7% Protestant, 3% Catholic, 1% Hindu, and 1% Buddhist.
The majority of respondents were located on Java Island (77%), followed by Sumatra Island (13%), and other islands (10%). Respondents were dominated by the 17-25 age group (36%) and the 26-30 age group (24%).
