According to IMD, in 2024, government spending on education per student in Indonesia remained low, ranking 62nd out of 67 countries.

Indonesia is also considered to have a shortage of teachers for secondary education, resulting in a student-teacher ratio ranking 55th out of 67 countries.

Indonesian students' performance on the PISA test was also not outstanding, ranking 56th out of 67 countries in the IMD database.
