According to Canalys' report, smartphone shipments in China reached 69.1 million units in Q3 2024, a 4% increase year-on-year (YoY).

"The Chinese smartphone market entered its most active period of the year, with sustained consumer demand carrying over from the previous quarter's e-commerce sales into the summer," said Canalys Research Manager Amber Liu in her report on Friday, October 25, 2024.

In Q3 2024, Vivo captured 19% of the Chinese smartphone market share with 13 million units shipped, a 25% YoY growth.

“[Vivo's growth] is thanks to the launch of new mid-range products that boosted offline sales and expanded its reach in its online stores," said the Canalys team.

Next, Huawei's smartphone shipments increased by 24% YoY to 10.8 million units.

HONOR's smartphone shipments decreased by 13% YoY to 10.3 million units, while Xiaomi's increased by 13% YoY to 10.2 million units.

Apple, which had previously fallen out of the top five, regained its position with 10 million iPhone shipments, a 6% YoY correction.

Apple's performance this quarter was largely aided by the iPhone 16 series, introduced on September 20, 2024.

Meanwhile, combined smartphone shipments from other brands in China reached 14.8 million units, down 4% YoY.
