According to the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) report, Indonesia's Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Development Index score has continued to show positive growth in recent years.

The BPS compiles the ICT Development Index using a methodology released by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). The assessment is based on three sub-indices: ICT access and infrastructure; ICT usage; and ICT skills.

This index represents the development of national ICT development on a scale of 0-10 points. A higher index value indicates a better condition.

In 2023, Indonesia's ICT development score increased to 5.90 points, the highest level in the last six years.

This increase in the index score was supported by improvements across all sub-indices. The access and infrastructure sub-index scored 5.81 points in 2023, up 0.01 points compared to 2022.

During this period, the ICT usage score also increased by 0.09 points to 5.91 points, while the ICT skills score increased by 0.04 points to 6.04 points.

Although the national ICT development index continues to rise, the BPS considers the score still moderate as it only reaches the 5-point range out of a possible 10 points.

"Based on this overview, various policies still need to be implemented to achieve optimal ICT development," wrote the BPS in its *2023 Information and Communication Technology Development Index* report.
