According to a survey by the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII), residents of underdeveloped areas in Indonesia face various challenges when using mobile internet.

The majority of respondents (54.3%) experienced intermittent or unstable internet connections.

Furthermore, 38.5% experienced slow internet connections, and 4.1% stated that purchasing internet credit or data packages was too far from their homes.

Additionally, 0.6% of respondents reported having their internet connection cut off by their provider due to overdue payments, 0.4% stated they did not know the reason for their issues, and 2% experienced other problems.

APJII conducted this survey from July to September 2024, involving 1,950 respondents from 64 underdeveloped districts across 17 Indonesian provinces.

Referring to the Regulation of the Minister of Villages, Development of Underdeveloped Regions and Transmigration (Permendes-PDTT) Number 11 of 2020, "underdeveloped areas" are districts whose territories and communities are less developed than other areas nationally.

The respondents comprised 59.23% males and 40.77% females. The majority of respondents were millennials aged 28-43 years (40.10%), followed by Generation Z aged 12-27 years (34.36%), and Generation X aged 44-59 years (6.05%).
