Acronis, a digital protection company, reports that several sectors are vulnerable to phishing and other malicious emails. Phishing involves deception through fake links, in this case, attached to emails.

The construction sector experienced 19% of the total attacks analyzed, followed by retail at 18%, and digital access in housing, also at 18%.

Acronis' analysis shows significant growth in email-based threats. "The rate of malicious messages increased by 0.6 points (60%) in just 4 months," Acronis wrote.

Spam rates also increased by over 15% during the same period, reaching a total of 30.6% of all incoming traffic.

Acronis predicts this percentage will increase, especially during periods of inactivity like the 2022 year-end holidays.

"No one is safe; email attacks target almost all industries," Acronis stated in its report.

This analysis involved 50 organizations that Acronis identified as frequently targeted. Acronis collaborated with Perception Point, collecting data in the second half of 2022 and combining it with Acronis telemetry data for malware and URL blocks.

The percentage of sectors affected by phishing and other email attacks is as follows:
