Strong Signal is the Primary Reason for Choosing a Mobile Operator

Strong signal is the main reason consumers choose a particular mobile internet operator. Approximately 45 percent, or 59.7 million internet users in Indonesia, choose a cellular operator because of signal strength, not because of cheaper data packages or offered bonuses.

According to a 2016 survey on Indonesian Internet User Behavior conducted by the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII), 71 percent of mobile internet users stated they were very satisfied with their cellular operator, and 15.5 percent were satisfied. However, 12.7 percent were less satisfied, and 1.2 percent were dissatisfied with mobile internet operator services.

Cellular operators currently pamper their customers by offering bonus data packages on the faster 4G network compared to its predecessor, 3G. However, not all areas have access to 4G services. Therefore, consumers choose operators based on signal strength in their area.
