During the 2024 Lebaran Idul Fitri homecoming season, the government implemented traffic engineering policies, including *one-way* and *contra-flow* systems. This was done to alleviate congestion caused by the surge in vehicle volume.
Several primary sources provided the public with information regarding traffic engineering during the homecoming period. This is evident from a survey conducted by Indikator Politik.
The results show that 35.7% of respondents used television news as their primary source for traffic information during this year's Lebaran homecoming.
“Television stations even provided hours of special coverage on the homecoming, which proved very helpful for citizens in obtaining information about road conditions during the journey,” said Indikator's Senior Researcher Hendro Prasetyo in an online press conference on Tuesday (14/5/2024).
Next, 25.2% of respondents accessed information from social media, and 8.3% through *online* media.
Furthermore, 7.5% of respondents obtained information about traffic engineering policies during the homecoming period from on-site officers.
“This is likely due to on-site interactions between those returning home and officers in the field, such as police officers at *rest areas* and along the journey,” said Hendro.
In addition, 6.7% of respondents accessed traffic information on Google Maps, and 1.3% used other media. The remaining 13.4% of respondents did not know or did not answer.
The Indikator survey was conducted on April 24-25, 2024, involving 1,217 respondents aged 17 and above who owned a telephone, assumed to represent 83% of the total national population.
Sample selection used a random digit dialing (RDD) technique. Selected respondents were then interviewed via telephone.
The survey's margin of error is approximately 2.9% at a 95% confidence level, assuming random sampling.
