An affiliate program is an activity that indirectly connects potential buyers with products through a special referral link.
This program is commonly used by e-commerce companies to engage the public in promoting products in exchange for rewards or commissions.
Snapcart, an online market research application, conducted research titled "The Potential of Affiliate Programs in the E-commerce Competition Landscape."
One focus of the survey was to examine which e-commerce affiliate programs offered the most lucrative commissions.
The results showed that the Shopee Affiliate Program was deemed the most profitable affiliate program by a majority of 68% of respondents.
According to the Shopee Affiliate Program page, this e-commerce platform offers a fixed commission of up to 5% for its affiliates.
The TikTok Affiliate Program ranked second as the most profitable, according to 17% of respondents.
However, this e-commerce platform offers a higher commission than Shopee, at 5-10% for all users.
Following in the next ranks are the Tokopedia Affiliate Program and the Lazada Affiliate Program, with percentages of 12% and 2%, respectively.
Snapcart Indonesia Director Astrid Williadry explained that affiliate programs are a powerful strategy for e-commerce players because they can increase traffic to their platforms.
"The impact is that it not only helps businesses increase sales and reach a wider market, but also contributes to the emergence of new trends and professions that monetize the digital world," said Astrid in her report.
This survey was conducted on 500 respondents who had received commissions from e-commerce affiliate programs. Respondents were spread across various regions in Indonesia.
Data collection was conducted in July 2023 on respondents aged 19-35 years and older.
