The 2023-2024 English Premier League standings have changed after Manchester City and Manchester United suffered defeats in the seventh week.
Man City lost 1-2 to Wolves at Molineux Stadium on Saturday (30/9/2023). Wolves' first goal came from an own goal by Ruben Dias in the 13th minute, as he attempted to block Pedro Neto's cross.
In the second half, the Citizens equalized 1-1 through a Julian Alvarez free-kick in the 58th minute. However, Wolves regained the lead through Hwang Hee-chan's goal (66') and secured the victory.
Despite the loss, Man City remains at the top of the Premier League table with 18 points. Pep Guardiola's team is one point ahead of Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal, who are in second and third place respectively.
Meanwhile, Manchester United suffered a 0-1 defeat to Crystal Palace at Old Trafford. The Red Devils' goal was breached by Joachim Andersen's goal (25').
Furthermore, Tottenham Hotspur won 2-1 against Liverpool, who played with nine men after red cards to Curtis Jones and Diogo Jota. Tottenham's goals were scored by Son Heung-min (36') and an own goal by Joel Matip (90+6'). Liverpool's goal was scored by Cody Gakpo (45+4').
Arsenal secured a resounding 4-0 victory over Bournemouth. After dropping several points and positions, The Gunners are now closely trailing Man City at the top of the table.
Arsenal's goals were scored by Bukayo Saka (17'), Martin Odegaard (44'), Kai Havertz (53'), and Ben White (90+3').
In other matches, Aston Villa defeated Brighton & Hove Albion 6-1. This propelled The Villains up one position to fifth place in this week's standings.
The seventh week of the 2023-2024 English Premier League has one remaining match: Fulham versus Chelsea, which will take place in the early hours of Tuesday (3/10/2023) WIB.
