The Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) reports that 24 countries are ready to participate in the U-17 World Cup, scheduled for November 10th to December 2nd, 2023. Indonesia, as the host country, will also be one of the participants in this international under-17 football tournament.
Japan and Uzbekistan secured the final two spots as participants in the U-17 World Cup. Both countries defeated their respective opponents in the quarterfinals of the 2023 U-17 Asian Cup on Monday, June 26th, 2023.
Japan and Uzbekistan follow Iran and South Korea, who had earlier achieved victories in the quarterfinals on Sunday, June 25th, 2023.
The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) was the last football federation to hold qualifying tournaments for the 2023 U-17 World Cup. Previously, football confederations on other continents had already completed their qualifications.
The AFC has a total of 5 participants, including Indonesia as the host. This is followed by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), which also has 5 participating representatives.
Next, the Confederation of African Football (CAF), the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (Concacaf), and the South American Football Confederation (Conmebol) each have 4 representatives participating in the U-17 World Cup.
Meanwhile, the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) only has 2 participating teams.
The group stage draw is scheduled for August 2023 in Jakarta. The 24 participants will be divided into six groups, each containing four teams.
