Japan emerged as the champion of the 2023 Asian Volleyball Championship after defeating Iran 3-0 in the final match at Ghadir Arena on Saturday, August 26, 2023. This victory boosted Japan's points in the national men's volleyball team ranking, according to data from the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB).
In total, Japan now has 334.34 points and occupies the top position in Asia. Globally, Japan ranks fifth.
Japan has won the Asian Volleyball Championship title 10 times since the event began in 1975. In fact, Japan holds the most championship titles in this prestigious Asian volleyball competition.
Iran, the runner-up, is ranked second in Asia with 243.55 points.
Qatar is ranked third with 181.45 points, winning 3-0 against China.
Indonesia, with a total of 61.27 points, is in the top 10, ranked eighth in Asia. Globally, Indonesia's volleyball ranking soared to 55th in the FIVB world rankings after achieving ninth place in the 2023 Asian Volleyball Championship.
According to the FIVB, the Indonesian national volleyball team is one of three countries with the highest ranking increase, rising eight places globally. This increase in ranking and points occurred after Indonesia defeated Thailand 3-0 in the ninth-place match of the 2023 Asian Volleyball Championship.
In Southeast Asia, the Indonesian team ("Tim Merah Putih") holds the top position. Vietnam is second in ASEAN with 57.9 points, followed by the Philippines in third (50.71 points), and Thailand in fourth (44.49 points).
