The Samba Team first won the title in the 1958 World Cup, and last won in 2002.
Brazil is followed by Italy and Germany, each of which have won the World Cup four times.

- Brazil: 5 times champions (World Cup 1958, 1962, 1970, 1994, and 2002)
- Italy: 4 times champions (World Cup 1934, 1938, 1982, and 2006)
- Germany: 4 times champions (World Cup 1954, 1974, 1990, and 2014)
- Argentina: 3 times champions (World Cup 1978, 1986, and 2022)
- France: 2 times champions (World Cup 1998 and 2018)
- Uruguay: 2 times champions (World Cup 1930 and 1950)
- England: 1 time champion (World Cup 1966)
- Spain: 1 time champion (World Cup 2010)
These countries have the opportunity to add to their titles in the 23rd World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico from June 11 to July 19, 2026.
An exception is Italy, which lost the opportunity after failing to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
