The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) released its latest FIFA rankings on Thursday, October 26, 2023. Indonesia's national team climbed two positions to 145th in the men's rankings.
Shin Tae-yong's team gained 16.95 points from the previous month, bringing their total to 1,069.82 points in October 2023.
This ranking improvement is mainly due to Indonesia's 12-0 aggregate victory against Brunei Darussalam in the first round of the 2026 World Cup Asian Qualifiers on October 12 and 17, 2023.
Before the two matches against Brunei, Indonesia was ranked 147th with 1,052.87 points.
Despite the global improvement, the Indonesian national team remains fifth in Southeast Asia this month.
Vietnam remains at the top of the FIFA rankings in the region, rising one place globally to 94th. Thailand also maintains its second position in ASEAN and 112th globally.
The trend shows that only Malaysia and the Philippines experienced changes in their FIFA rankings in Southeast Asia. The majority of the rankings in the region remained the same from September 2023 to October 2023.
Malaysia climbed one position to third in ASEAN, although it dropped three places globally to 137th. Similarly, the Philippines, overtaken by Malaysia to fourth place in the region, also fell six places to 138th globally this month.
Argentina remains at the top of the world FIFA rankings in the same category and period, with a total of 1,861.29 points.
