Cristiano Ronaldo Becomes the World's Top Goalscorer

Cristiano Ronaldo broke the world record as the highest goalscorer in the world. A report by the European Football Association (UEFA) shows that the Portuguese footballer scored 111 goals from 180 matches.

Ronaldo achieved this record after winning a 2-0 score in Portugal's match against Ireland in the continuation of Group A of the 2022 World Cup European Zone Qualifiers on Thursday, September 2, 2020, in the early hours. The 36-year-old successfully beat the record of former Iranian footballer Ali Daei, who recorded 109 goals from 149 matches.

The next highest goalscorer comes from Malaysia. Former Malaysian national team player Mokhtar Dahari scored 89 goals.

Hungarian footballer Ferenc Puskás follows with 84 goals. Then, Godfrey Chitalu (Zambia), Hussein Saeed (Iraq), and Pelé (Brazil) each scored 79 goals, 78 goals, and 77 goals, respectively.

Meanwhile, Ali Mabkhout (United Arab Emirates) and Lionel Messi (Argentina) each scored 76 goals. Next, Sándor Kocsis (Hungary), Kunishige Kamamoto (Japan), and Bashar Abdullah (Kuwait) each scored 75 goals.
