Tottenham Hotspur suffered a 1-2 defeat against West Ham United in their final match of the English Premier League's 15th week at their home stadium on Friday (December 8th, 2023) early WIB.
Cristian Romero initially put Tottenham ahead in the 11th minute. However, West Ham managed to score two goals in the second half through Jarrod Bowen (52') and James Ward-Prowse (74').
This defeat prevented Tottenham from equaling Manchester City's points, who are currently in fourth place, the final spot for the Champions League.
The Lilywhites are in fifth place with 27 points, the same as Manchester United in sixth place.
As a result, Tottenham risks being overtaken by Manchester United in the following week's match. Especially considering that Ange Postecoglou's team is in poor form, having only earned one point in their last five matches.
Besides Manchester United, Tottenham's position is also threatened by other teams in the top 10. Without an improvement in their next match, The Lilywhites' position could worsen.
West Ham's victory gave them 24 points, putting them only three points behind Tottenham.
Meanwhile, Arsenal solidified their position at the top of the table with 36 points, having beaten Luton Town 4-3 this week.
Liverpool and Aston Villa also recorded victories this week. The Reds are only two points behind The Gunners, while The Villains are four points behind the top team.
Aston Villa's 1-0 victory against Manchester City this week saw The Citizens drop to fourth place.
