203,400 Construction Companies Spread Across Indonesia

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded 203,403 construction companies in Indonesia. The majority of these construction companies are located on the island of Java, totaling 77,116 units.

Java dominates the top four provinces with the largest number of construction companies: East Java with 24,596 units, Central Java with 15,961 units, Jakarta with 14,505 units, and West Java with 12,884 units. Banten ranks eleventh with 7,270 units, while Yogyakarta ranks sixth lowest with 1,900 units.

Outside of Java, the highest concentration of construction companies is on the island of Sumatra with 51,370 units, followed by Sulawesi with 23,786 units, Maluku and Papua with 16,187 units, and Kalimantan with 22,770 units. The lowest number is in Bali and Nusa Tenggara with 12,174 units.

The majority of construction companies are small-scale businesses, totaling 150,375 units or 73.93% of the total number of construction companies in Indonesia. Medium-scale companies account for 27,656 units (13.6%), and large-scale companies account for 1,750 units (0.86%).

Furthermore, 11.61% are non-qualified. Non-qualified companies are legally registered construction companies that have never obtained business certification from the National Construction Services Development Institute (LPJK). This category also includes companies whose certifications have expired.
