Survey Indicator: 60% of Residents Agree with PSSI Chairman's Resignation Following Kanjuruhan Tragedy

An Indonesian Political Indicator survey shows that 60.2% of the public agree that the PSSI Chairman Mochamad Iriawan, or Iwan Bule, and his officials should resign following the Kanjuruhan tragedy.

This recommendation to resign also came from the Independent Fact-Finding Team (TGIPF) formed by President Joko Widodo last month.

"So, 60.2% agree (5.6% strongly agree and 54.6% agree) with the TGIPF's recommendation that the PSSI Chairman and all his officials resign. Only 18.3% disagree (12.8% somewhat disagree and 5.5% strongly disagree)," said Burhanuddin Muhtadi, Executive Director of Indonesian Political Indicators, as quoted from the Indonesian Political Indicators YouTube channel on Sunday (13/11).

Meanwhile, 21.4% of respondents answered "don't know" or didn't answer. Furthermore, the survey shows that 55.5% of respondents agree that the police should not hesitate to name PSSI Chairman Iwan Bule as a suspect in the Kanjuruhan tragedy.

The survey also identified several figures considered most suitable to become the PSSI Chairman. Erick Thohir ranked highest at 24.1%, followed by Najwa Shihab (10.4%), and Kaesang Pangarep (5.8%).

The survey was conducted on 1,220 respondents aged 17 years and older or already married throughout Indonesia. The sample was drawn using a multistage random sampling method with a margin of error of approximately 2.9% and a 95% confidence level. Face-to-face interviews with respondents were conducted from October 30, 2022, to November 5, 2022.
