Anti-war protests in Russia intensify, 6,440 demonstrators arrested.

According to a survey by the Yuri Levada Analytical Center, until December 2021, the majority of Russian citizens viewed the United States (US) and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) as the main culprits in the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

However, after Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, waves of anti-war demonstrations continued to emerge in various regions of Russia.

According to reports from the human rights activist group OVD-Info, in the first five days of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, anti-war protests had occurred in 103 cities.

This wave of protests was also accompanied by the arrest of demonstrators by the local government.

OVD-Info recorded that between February 24-28, 2022, 6,440 anti-war demonstrators were arrested in Russia. The most arrests occurred in the following cities:

1. Moscow: 3,126 people
2. St. Petersburg: 2,084
3. Yekaterinburg: 125 people
4. Krasnodar: 108 people
5. Nizhny Novgorod: 101 people
6. Novosibirsk: 73 people
7. Kazan: 71 people

Not only in Russia, but anti-war protests also occurred in European countries and various other parts of the world.

According to *Euronews*, the largest protest in recent days took place in Germany on Sunday (February 27) with approximately 100,000 demonstrators.
