Most of the world's population has a negative perception of Russia.

According to the *Democracy Perception Index 2022* survey report released by Latana and the Alliance for Democracy Foundation, a majority of global citizens hold a negative perception of Russia following its invasion of Ukraine.

This negative perception is particularly strong among US citizens, at -62%. This negative figure indicates that the proportion of citizens with a negative perception is 62% higher than those with a positive perception.

Negative perceptions of Russia among European citizens reached -60%. Citizens in Latin American countries showed a -39% negative perception, while citizens in Asian countries (excluding China) registered a -4% negative perception.

However, some countries displayed predominantly positive views of Russia. The most positive perception came from Russian citizens themselves, at 76%, followed by Chinese citizens at 49%.

The survey was conducted online between March 30 and May 10, 2022, involving 52,785 respondents from 53 countries, with an average sample size of approximately 1,000 respondents per country. The average margin of error across all sampled countries is ±3.2%.
