In the 2022 State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN), the budget for the General Election Commission (KPU) is set at Rp2.45 trillion.
The KPU's 2022 budget details are Rp505.9 billion for election organization and Rp1.94 trillion for management support programs.
Meanwhile, the budget for the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) this year is Rp1.98 trillion. The details are Rp574.2 billion for election organization and Rp1.4 trillion for management support programs.
In total, the KPU and Bawaslu budget in the 2022 APBN reaches approximately Rp4.43 trillion.
This figure is far less than the total budget for the Simultaneous General Election and Regional Head Election (Pilkada) in 2024, which is estimated to reach Rp110.4 trillion.
"This also needs to be decided immediately regarding the allocation of funds, both from the APBN and APBD, in preparation for the Simultaneous General Election and Regional Head Election in 2024," said President Jokowi, as reported by the Indonesian Cabinet Secretariat website on Sunday (10/4/2022).
"Yesterday, it was conveyed to me that the estimated budget is Rp110.4 trillion, for KPU and Bawaslu; Rp76.6 trillion for KPU and Rp33.8 trillion for Bawaslu," he continued.
Election Stages Begin June 2022
In addition to preparing the budget, President Joko Widodo has inaugurated the KPU Commissioners and Bawaslu members for the 2022-2027 period on Tuesday (12/4/2022).
The inaugurated KPU Commissioners are Hasyim Asy'ari, Mochammad Afifuddin, Parsadan Harahap, Yulianto Sudrajat, Idham Holik, Betty Epsilon, and August Mellaz.
Hasyim Asy'ari was elected as the Chairman of the KPU RI for the 2022-2027 period, based on the decision in the KPU Plenary Meeting held on Tuesday (12/4/2022).
The KPU's immediate target is to begin the election stages in mid-June 2022.
The schedule for the General Election has been set for February 14, 2024, while the Simultaneous Regional Head Election is on November 27, 2024.
