A recent Kurious survey by the Katadata Insight Center (KIC) shows that a majority, or 58.3%, of respondents believe that appointing Gibran Rakabuming Raka as Prabowo Subianto's vice-presidential candidate will result in a shift of votes from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) to the Prabowo-Gibran pair.

The details show that 37.7% stated they were certain, and 20.6% were very certain.

On the other hand, 41.7% of respondents were uncertain that Gibran's selection as Prabowo's running mate would attract PDIP voters. Of this number, 30.1% stated they were uncertain, while 11.6% said they were very uncertain.

The Prabowo-Gibran pairing is supported by the Gerindra Party, Golkar Party, National Mandate Party (PAN), Democratic Party, Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), Gelora Party, Crescent Star Party (PBB), and Gelora Party.

Meanwhile, the PDIP is supporting Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD as the presidential and vice-presidential candidates. This pair is also supported by the United Development Party (PPP), Perindo Party, and Hanura Party.

Previously, the Secretary-General of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), Hasto Kristiyanto, stated that his party no longer had any dealings with Gibran as a party cadre. Hasto made this statement along with the announcement that the PDIP had dismissed Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution.

According to Hasto, Gibran and Bobby were dismissed because they held differing views from the party's decisions. Gibran had officially run as vice-presidential candidate alongside Prabowo Subianto and received support from Bobby Nasution. This stance contradicted the PDIP's decision to support Ganjar Pranowo and Mahfud MD in the 2024 Presidential Election.

Hasto said that the dismissal of Bobby and Gibran marked the end of the controversy surrounding the party cadre's support for Gibran.

"Everything, Mas Gibran is the same, Mas Gibran's matter is closed, the letter has been given by the DPC, the content is the same, only the date and the signatory are different, but the substance is the same," he said, as quoted by Katadata on Wednesday (November 15, 2023).

Despite this, Hasto refused to specify whether the action taken against Gibran was a dismissal or something else. He only confirmed that the PDIP's dealings with Gibran were over.

This Kurious-KIC survey involved 1,002 respondents spread across Indonesia, consisting of 54.1% male respondents and 45.9% female respondents.

The majority, 64.1%, of respondents were from Java Island (excluding Jakarta), followed by respondents from DKI Jakarta (16.1%), and Sumatra Island (13.3%).

Meanwhile, the proportion of respondents from Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Bali-Nusa, and Maluku-Papua ranged from 0.2% to 2.3%.

Respondents were dominated by the 25-34 age group (41.80%), followed by the 35-44 age group (26.8%) and the 45-54 age group (13.6%).

Data collection was conducted from November 3-6, 2023, using the computer-assisted web interviewing (CAWI) method, with a margin of error of approximately 3.1% and a 95% confidence level.
