The presidential and vice-presidential candidate pair Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka won the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres) in a single round. They received 96,214,691 votes, or 58.59% of the national valid votes.
Prabowo-Gibran's vote count surpassed the two other candidate pairs: Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar with 40,971,906 votes (24.95%) and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD with 27,040,878 votes (16.46%).
The total national valid votes reached 164,227,475. The vote recapitulation includes votes from 38 provinces in Indonesia and 128 overseas election committee (PPLN) regions.
The results of the 2024 General Election were determined through KPU Decision Number 360 of 2024 concerning the Determination of the Results of the Presidential and Vice-Presidential Election, Members of the House of Representatives, Regional Representative Council, Provincial Regional People's Representative Council, and Regency/City Regional People's Representative Council Nationally in the 2024 General Election.
"We determine the national results of the Presidential and Vice-Presidential Election based on minutes number 218/PL.01.08-BA/05/2024 in the 2024 General Election," said KPU Chairman Hasyim Asy'ari in an online press conference on the KPU RI YouTube account, Wednesday (20/3/2024).
The KPU's recapitulation results also show that Prabowo-Gibran won in 36 provinces, while Anies-Muhaimin received the most votes in two provinces: West Sumatra and Aceh. Ganjar-Mahfud did not win in any province.
Prabowo-Gibran's vote count is also the highest in the history of Indonesian presidential elections.
Based on KPU data processed by the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), the first presidential winner directly elected by the people in 2004 was Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) and Jusuf Kalla (JK) with 69,266,350 votes.
SBY-JK won in two rounds. Their opponent, Megawati-Hasyim Muzadi, received 44,990,704 votes. The total valid votes in the second round reached 114,257,054.
In the 2009 Presidential Election, SBY again won the election with Boediono, receiving 73,874,562 votes. His opponents, Megawati-Prabowo Subianto, received 32,548,105 votes, and Jusuf Kalla-Wiranto received 15,081,814 votes. The total valid votes in the 2009 Presidential Election were 121,504,481.
Next, the 2014 Presidential Election was won by Joko Widodo (Jokowi)-JK with 70,997,833 votes (53.15%). His opponent, Prabowo Subianto-Hatta Radjasa, received 62,576,444 votes (46.85%). The total valid votes nationwide were 133,574,277.
Jokowi won the 2019 presidential election again with Ma'ruf Amin, receiving a total of 85,607,362 votes (55.5%). Prabowo, his tough opponent who had lost repeatedly in previous presidential elections, had to settle for 68,650,239 votes (44.5%) with Sandiaga Uno. The total votes at that time reached 154,257,607.
