Indonesia's trade balance was supported by the non-oil sector, which recorded a surplus of US$3.22 billion at the beginning of 2026. The contributing commodities include animal/vegetable fats and oils; mineral fuels; and iron and steel.

However, this non-oil surplus was reduced by a trade deficit in oil of US$2.27 billion. This deficit was contributed by oil products and crude oil.

As for the countries that contributed to Indonesia's trade balance surplus in January 2026, they came from transactions with the United States, which amounted to US$1.55 billion. Then India with a surplus contribution of US$1.07 billion and the Philippines US$0.69 billion.

Meanwhile, the largest trade deficit came from transactions with China worth US$2.47 billion. This was followed by Australia, which contributed a deficit of US$0.96 billion, and France US$0.47 billion.
