According to a survey by Indikator Politik Indonesia, many people believe that the 2024 General Election is free from government intervention.

However, a significant number hold the opposite view.

Indikator recorded that 59.8% of respondents believe the 2024 election is free from government interference; 41.2% somewhat believe this, and 18.6% strongly believe it.

Meanwhile, 34.8% of respondents did not believe this, with 27.4% somewhat disbelieving and 7.4% not believing at all.

"If we combine them, about 35% of voters don't believe that the government is not intervening (in the election). This is a considerable number," said Indikator researcher Hendro Prasetyo in an online press conference on their YouTube account on Wednesday (28/2/2024).

"The KPU (General Elections Commission), Bawaslu (Election Supervisory Agency), and the government need to respond to public distrust that the government is not intervening, because (the number of those who don't believe) is quite large," he said.

This survey also found that the group least convinced that the 2024 election is free from government intervention is mostly comprised of voters supporting Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar.

As many as 45.8% of respondents supporting Anies-Muhaimin are unsure that the 2024 election is free from government interference.

Then, 37.1% of supporters of Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD expressed similar uncertainty.

Meanwhile, 28.4% of voters supporting Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka held the same view.

The Indikator survey was conducted from February 18-21, 2024, involving 1,227 respondents aged 17 and above who own a telephone, assumed to represent 83% of the total national population.

The sampling used a random digit dialing (RDD) technique. Selected respondents were then interviewed by telephone.

The survey's margin of error is approximately 2.9% at a 95% confidence level, assuming simple random sampling.
