According to a survey by Indikator Politik Indonesia, most people believe that Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka is the presidential and vice-presidential candidate pair most supported by President Jokowi.
Of the approximately 4,000 people surveyed, 71.3% held this view.
Meanwhile, 6.7% believed President Jokowi supported Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD, and only 4.4% believed he supported Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar.
On the other hand, 17.6% of respondents said they didn't know or didn't answer.
This result differs from previous surveys. According to Burhanuddin Muhtadi, Executive Director of Indikator Politik Indonesia, until mid-October 2023, the majority of respondents perceived Ganjar as the candidate most supported by Jokowi, with Prabowo in second place.
Now, public perception has shifted, especially after Gibran became Prabowo's vice-presidential running mate.
"(Currently) the public considers Prabowo-Gibran to be the candidates most supported by Jokowi," said Burhanuddin in a press conference on Indikator Politik's YouTube channel on Thursday (18/1/2024).
According to Burhanuddin, Jokowi's still-high approval rating has influenced the rise of Prabowo's electability.
The latest Indikator Politik survey shows that the satisfaction rate with President Jokowi's performance reached 76.5%.
The main reason respondents were satisfied was that Jokowi was considered to have provided social assistance to the poor, built road and bridge infrastructure, and successfully reduced poverty.
This survey involved 1,200 respondents spread across Indonesia, with criteria of being 17 years old or married. The sample was selected using a multistage random sampling method.
Indikator Politik Indonesia also conducted an oversample in 13 provinces, namely Aceh, North Sumatra, South Sumatra, Lampung, DKI Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, East Java, Banten, Bali, NTT, North Sulawesi, and South Sulawesi, resulting in a total sample of 4,560 respondents.
Data collection was conducted from December 30, 2023, to January 6, 2024, using face-to-face interviews by trained interviewers. The survey's margin of error is approximately 2%, and the confidence level is 95%.
