The end of 2022 was marked by various events in the political, economic, legal, and social sectors. The research firm Ipsos Global revealed at least 18 issues that most worried citizens worldwide in December 2022.
Inflation was a major concern for many, at 40%. Although ranking first, Ipsos noted that inflation had actually fallen a few points for the first time in two and a half years.
"Rising prices remain a major global concern, with four out of ten citing it as a worry," Ipsos stated in its report.
Second was poverty and social inequality, at 31%. Third was crime and violence at 28%.
Fourth was unemployment at 26%, and fifth was corruption at 24%.

Among the top five issues, poverty and inequality, crime and violence, unemployment, and corruption were recurring concerns.
Compared to the previous year, the top five were Covid-19, poverty and inequality, unemployment, corruption, and crime and violence.
The survey, titled "What Worries the World," is conducted monthly by Ipsos to explore what the public considers the most important social and political issues.
In explaining the context of the case, Ipsos also used data from over ten years to place the latest scores. This survey wave was conducted between November 25 and December 9, 2022.
The survey involved 19,504 adult respondents aged 16-74 in 29 countries.
