President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated Akhmad Wiyagus as Deputy Minister of Home Affairs (Wamendagri) at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Wednesday, October 8, 2025.
Wiyagus became the third Deputy Minister of Home Affairs in the institution, following two previously appointed officials, namely Bima Arya Sugiarto and Ribka Haluk.
Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi stated that the president deemed it necessary to have additional deputy ministers to ensure smooth development in every region of Indonesia.
"Therefore, Mr. President felt it necessary to provide additional strength to the Ministry of Home Affairs by appointing one Deputy Minister of Home Affairs," said Prasetyo after the inauguration, as reported by Katadata, Wednesday, October 8, 2025.
Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian also explained that the government needs to expand the scope of supervision across all regions in the country. Later, the duties of the three Deputy Ministers of Home Affairs will be divided based on Indonesia's time zones.
"For example, Java-Sumatra will have one deputy minister. Kalimantan and Sulawesi will have one deputy minister. Then Maluku, Papua, and Bali Nusra will have one deputy minister," he said.
