Kompas Research and Development: Only 54.5% of the Public Satisfied with the Attorney General's Office Performance

The Prosecutor's Office recently celebrated its 65th anniversary on July 22, 2024. This celebration was followed by a spotlight on the evaluation of its performance and public satisfaction levels.

Kompas Research and Development's (Litbang Kompas) poll showed that 54.5% of respondents were satisfied with the Attorney General's Office's performance. This comprises 5.7% who were very satisfied and 48.8% who were satisfied.

Meanwhile, 44.1% expressed the opposite. This breaks down into 39.5% who were dissatisfied and 4.6% who were very dissatisfied.

Litbang Kompas assessed that the Attorney General's Office's various law enforcement efforts have not yet been able to improve its public image.

"This phenomenon seems to contradict common logic. Because, more active performance in law enforcement should increase public satisfaction," wrote a Litbang Kompas researcher in their report on Tuesday (July 22, 2025).

The survey further details respondent satisfaction levels with the Attorney General's Office, covering aspects of prosecution, investigation, corruption eradication, and law enforcement.

The investigation aspect received the highest satisfaction rating, at 58.2%. This was followed by satisfaction with prosecution performance at 53.2%, corruption eradication at 51.5%, and law enforcement, which was the lowest at 49.2%.

This survey involved 512 respondents from 72 cities across 38 provinces, selected randomly according to the population proportion in each province.

Data collection was conducted from June 16-19, 2025, through telephone interviews. The survey's margin of error is approximately 4.25% with a 95% confidence level, under conditions of simple random sampling.
