North Sumatra Governor (2018-2023) Edy Rahmayadi is expected to run again for the governorship in the 2024 Regional Head Elections.

However, results from the Indonesian Survey Institute (LSI) show that a majority, or 48.4%, of respondents are unwilling to be led by Edy again.

Meanwhile, 35% of North Sumatra respondents want Edy to remain as governor. 16.6% of respondents did not answer or did not know.

“Going forward, if Edy Rahmayadi wants to be more competitive against Bobby, he must increase public desire for him to remain as governor,” said LSI Executive Director Djayadi Hanan in an online presentation of the survey on Sunday (28/7/2024).

Although a majority of respondents do not want Edy to lead again, 61.6% of respondents are still satisfied with Edy's performance as governor of North Sumatra.

On the other hand, 30.2% expressed dissatisfaction with Edy's performance, and another 8.2% did not answer or did not know.

This survey involved 800 respondents in North Sumatra, with criteria of being 17 years or older or married. Respondents were selected using multistage random sampling.

Data collection was conducted from July 7-17, 2024, through face-to-face interviews. The survey's margin of error is approximately 3.5% at a 95% confidence level.
