Seven Million Jakarta Residents Are Eligible to Vote for Governor

Of Jakarta's 10 million residents, 7.2 million are included in the Permanent Voter List (DPT) for the second round of the regional head election (Pilkada). The highest number of DPT is in East Jakarta, reaching 2 million people or approximately 28 percent of the total voters. In second place is West Jakarta with 1.68 million DPT, or approximately 23.3 percent, and in third place is South Jakarta with 1.6 million, or 22.3 percent of the total voters.

The second round of the Pilkada, scheduled for April 19, 2017, was contested by two candidate pairs: Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok)-Djarot Saiful Hidayat and Anies Rasyid Baswedan-Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno. These two pairs advanced to the second round after obtaining 42.96 percent of the vote for Ahok-Djarot and 39.97 percent for Anies-Sandi in the first round (February 15).
