218 Administrative Violations Occurred During the 2019 Elections in North Sumatra

DataTalk Asia reports that the majority of 2019 General Election violations in North Sumatra were administrative in nature, totaling 218 violations.

This is followed by 57 violations of unknown type, 47 alleged cases of vote buying, and 37 violations related to the installation of campaign paraphernalia (APK).

Next, there were 28 violations related to neutrality and code of ethics violations. 27 violations were related to campaign organization. Furthermore, there were seven violations related to campaign materials (BK) distribution and two violations of abuse of office.

Administrative violations in the regional elections (Pilkada) are violations of procedures or mechanisms related to the administration of the election. Administrative violations do not include election-related criminal offenses or code of ethics violations.

Based on region, the North Sumatra Provincial Bawaslu (Election Supervisory Agency) received the most reports of election violations in 2019, with 47 reports. This was followed by the Tapanuli Tengah Regency Bawaslu with 45 reports and the Deli Serdang Regency Bawaslu with 34 reports.

Based on the reported party (respondent), the majority of those reported for election violations were election officials, at 215 individuals. This was followed by 81 legislative candidates and 68 individuals of unknown identity.
