Five Reasons Why People Support the Relocation of the National Capital

A Median (Media Survei Nasional) survey shows that 40.7% of respondents agree with the plan to relocate the nation's capital from Jakarta to East Kalimantan. The main reason cited by respondents supporting the relocation is economic equity, chosen by 13.5% of respondents.

12.3% of respondents stated that the relocation is expected to reduce the population density of DKI Jakarta. 10.7% of respondents simply followed the government's decision. Further reasons included reducing traffic congestion in DKI Jakarta (2.9% of respondents) and a desire for positive change (2.7% of respondents).

This survey on *Public Perception of the Capital Relocation Plan* was conducted from August 26-30, 2019, involving 1,000 respondents. The sample was proportionally divided and used multistage random sampling. The margin of error for this survey is 3.09% with a 95% confidence level.
