A recent Kurious survey by the Katadata Insight Center (KIC) reveals that a significant portion of the public believes President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is not serious about ensuring the neutrality of civil servants (ASN) in the 2024 General Election.
Of 1,002 respondents, 25% doubted Jokowi's commitment to maintaining ASN neutrality in the election. This breaks down to 7.1% who believe he is very unserious and 17.9% who believe he is unserious.
Conversely, the Kurious survey shows that 75% of respondents believe Jokowi is serious about maintaining ASN neutrality in the 2024 General Election. Of this group, 52.4% stated that Jokowi is serious and 22.7% stated that he is very serious.
Previously, Jokowi emphasized that all government ASN, from the district/city level to the central level, must maintain their neutrality in the 2024 General Election. The same applies to the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the National Police (Polri).
"I need to state that regional governments, provincial governments, district and city governments, and the central government must all be neutral. All ASN must be neutral," Jokowi said, as quoted from the website of the Ministry of State Secretariat on Wednesday (1/11/2023).
The Kurious-KIC survey involved 1,002 respondents spread across Indonesia, comprising 54.1% male respondents and 45.9% female respondents.
The majority of respondents, 64.1%, came from the island of Java (excluding Jakarta), followed by respondents from DKI Jakarta (16.1%), and Sumatra (13.3%).
Meanwhile, the proportion of respondents from Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Bali-Nusa Tenggara, and Maluku-Papua ranged from 0.2% to 2.3%.
Respondents were dominated by the 25-34 age group (41.80%), followed by the 35-44 age group (26.8%) and the 45-54 age group (13.6%).
Data collection was conducted from November 3-6, 2023, using the computer-assisted web interviewing (CAWI) method, with a margin of error of approximately 3.1% and a 95% confidence level.
