Y-Publica Survey: Prabowo-Sandiaga's Electability Rises by 3%

A survey conducted by Y-Publica shows that the electability of the presidential and vice-presidential candidates Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Uno (Prabowo-Sandiaga) in December 2018 increased by 3.3% to 28.3% of the vote, up from 31.6%. Despite this increase, the pair with number 02 still lagged more than 20% behind their competitor, Joko Widodo-Ma'ruf Amin (Jokowi-Maruf), who obtained 53.2% of the vote. Meanwhile, 14.6% of respondents did not answer/had not yet decided.

High public satisfaction with the Jokowi-Jusuf Kalla administration, reaching 70.9%, is one of the factors supporting the high electability of the incumbent president. Most voters for Jokowi-Maruf chose the pair with number 01 because they are considered down-to-earth (25.5%), simple (16.7%), and hardworking for the nation (13.6%). The public chose Prabowo-Sandiaga because they are considered firm (19.3%), businessmen (15.8%), and courageous (14.2%).

The Y-Publica survey was conducted from November 20 to December 4, 2018, involving 1,200 respondents using a multistage random sampling method from 34 provinces. Data collection was conducted through face-to-face interviews with respondents using questionnaires. The margin of error is 2.98% with a 95% confidence level.
