Indonesia's textile export performance weakened in the first half of this year. Industry players even claim the situation is worse than during the pandemic.

According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), in the first half of 2023, the volume of national textile and textile goods exports was approximately 922,500 tons, a 13% decrease compared to the first half of 2022.

According to the Indonesian Filament Yarn and Fiber Producers Association (Apsyfi), the current condition of the domestic textile industry is worse than during the pandemic.

Therefore, there's a significant decline," said Apsyfi Chairman General Redma Gita in an interview with *KBR.id* on Monday (September 25, 2023).

"This (decline in the textile industry's performance) has been happening since the third quarter (of 2022). What we regret is that until now, the government hasn't done anything to improve the industry's condition. As a result, there are layoffs (PHK) every month, production is reduced, and factories are closing every month. This is worse than during Covid-19," said Redma.
