The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reports that Indonesia's per capita gross domestic product (GDP) reached Rp74.96 million in 2023.
Based on provinces, DKI Jakarta ranked first with a regional GDP (PDRB) of Rp322.61 million per capita in 2023. This figure is up from Rp299.67 million in 2022.
DKI Jakarta's PDRB at constant prices (ADHK) in 2023 was Rp192.13 million, up from Rp183.59 million in 2022.
East Kalimantan came in second, at Rp215.76 million per capita per year. This figure is down from Rp238.91 million in 2022.
Third is North Kalimantan, at Rp201.74 million. Up from Rp192.58 million in 2022.
Fourth is Riau, with a PDRB of Rp154.52 million. Followed in fifth place by the Riau Islands, at Rp154.17 million.
Meanwhile, the provinces with the lowest PDRB were Central Papua (Rp10.35 million); Papua Mountains (Rp16.86 million); and East Nusa Tenggara (Rp23.07 million).
BPS states that per capita PDRB is the average income of residents obtained from dividing the PDRB by the population in a certain region in a particular year. The higher the per capita income, the more prosperous the region is likely to be.
PDRB at current prices (ADHB) is used to determine the capacity of economic resources, shifts, and the economic structure of a region. This refers to prevailing market prices.
