The booming digital business, driven by the emergence of e-commerce, fintech, and online transportation services, was one of the main drivers of Indonesia's domestic economic growth in 2017. As a result, the information and communication sector, which contributes 5% to the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP), grew by 9.81% year-on-year. This achievement was the highest compared to other sectors. Eight sectors achieved growth exceeding national GDP growth.
Meanwhile, the manufacturing sector did not show significant growth and remained below domestic economic growth. The mining and quarrying sector lagged behind, recording only 0.69% growth, the lowest among all sectors.
For information, Indonesia's economy in 2017, based on 2010 constant prices, grew by 5.07% to Rp 9,912.7 trillion from the previous year. Based on current prices, it reached Rp 13,588.8 trillion.
