This is a strategy for preventing destructive conflicts related to mining concessions in community organizations.

Based on Government Regulation (PP) No. 25 of 2024, religious organizations (ormas) are allowed to conduct mining operations in Indonesia.

This policy has sparked various views among ormas, which may potentially lead to conflicts.

In response to these potential conflicts, Katadata Insight Center (KIC) conducted a survey of perceptions among ormas members.

Held in October-November 2025, the survey involved 415 members and administrators from two major religious organizations in Indonesia, namely Muhammadiyah and Nahdlatul Ulama (NU).

The results showed that the majority of respondents stated that strengthening communication within ormas and understanding policies based on data can reduce prejudice and misinformation.

"The public believes that direct dialogue between parties is far more crucial in mitigating conflicts than other technical solutions," KIC wrote in its report.

Here are the steps deemed necessary by ormas to prevent conflicts arising from differing views on mining concessions, based on KIC's survey:

1. Enhancing dialogue and open communication among ormas or among members: 76.6%
2. Promoting data-based discussions and understanding policies, rather than emotions or prejudice: 57.8%
3. Emphasizing the values of tolerance and mutual respect for differing views: 54%
4. Disseminating accurate information and avoiding misleading news or opinions: 44.6%
5. Involving religious figures or ormas leaders to calm situations and provide guidance: 40.5%
6. Enhancing cooperation among ormas in joint social or economic activities: 36.4%
7. Ensuring that differences do not escalate into practical politics: 36.4%

"Although the direction of support is most influenced by ormas leaders, peace must stem from the awareness of members, not just instructions from superiors," KIC wrote.
