Toei Animation, the Japanese animation studio that produces One Piece and other anime, reported that international licensing revenue for all its productions reached ¥33.16 billion (approximately Rp3.67 trillion) in fiscal year 2025/3, or April 1, 2024 – March 2025 (assuming an exchange rate of Rp110.88 per yen). This international scope includes revenue generated outside of Japan.
This figure surged 39.11% year-on-year (YoY) from the same period in 2024/3, which amounted to ¥23.84 billion (approximately Rp2.64 trillion).
In the consolidated financial report, One Piece garnered the second-highest international licensing revenue at ¥9.99 billion (approximately Rp1.1 trillion). This revenue increased by 38.26% (YoY) from the previous year's ¥7.22 billion (approximately Rp801.41 billion).
In Japan, One Piece licensing revenue reached ¥6.1 billion (approximately Rp676.56 billion). Unfortunately, One Piece domestic licensing revenue decreased by 10.21% (YoY) from 2024/3, which was ¥6.7 billion (approximately Rp753.51 billion).
Toei Animation's highest international licensing revenue came from Dragon Ball, reaching ¥13.62 billion (approximately Rp1.51 trillion) in 2025/3. This value skyrocketed by 37.69% (YoY) from the previous year's ¥9.89 billion (approximately Rp1.09 trillion).
Below Dragon Ball and One Piece, there were Digimon generated ¥1.53 billion (Rp169.86 billion) and Saint Seiya ¥632 million (Rp70.07 billion) in 2025/3. Other anime and properties contributed approximately ¥7.38 million.
Toei Animation stated that overseas licensing revenue increased significantly. This is attributed to strong merchandise sales for *One Piece*, the Dragon Ball series, the Digimon series, and Dragon Ball game rights.
These licenses can include merchandise (toys, clothing, accessories, equipment, local brand collaborations); gaming rights (console games, mobile games, character usage); consumer products (anime-branded food/beverages, cosmetics, collectible cards); and the use of illustrations, logos, or characters for books and other distributed goods.
