A significant portion of Indonesia's Generation Z (Gen Z) enjoys sports news content.
This is evident from the report of the *2024 Indonesian Internet Penetration Survey* released by the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII).
According to the report, the majority, or 41.36%, of Indonesian Gen Z frequently access sports news online.
Other news types with considerable interest include politics/social/legal/human rights (HAM) at 33.40%, and infotainment/gossip at 31.42%.
Meanwhile, news on economics/finance/business, education/science and technology (IPTEK), culture/tourism, health, and international news are less popular among Gen Z, as shown in the graph.
APJII conducted this survey from December 2023 to January 2024, involving a total of 8,720 randomly and proportionally selected respondents from 38 Indonesian provinces.
Gen Z in this survey comprised respondents born between 1997 and 2012, aged 12-27 during the survey. They constituted 31.4% of the total respondents.
The survey employed a face-to-face interview method with a margin of error of +/-1.1%.
