A collaborative survey by Kredivo and the Katadata Insight Center (KIC) reveals that domestic Paylater users are predominantly millennials and Gen Z.
43.9% of Paylater users are millennials (aged 26-35), while 26.5% belong to Gen Z (aged 18-25).
Furthermore, 21.3% of Paylater users are in the 36-45 age group. This number has consistently increased, from 18.9% in 2021 to 20.6% in 2022.
“This indicates a growing adoption of Paylater among older users,” the research team wrote in their report.
Conversely, the lowest Paylater usage is observed in the 46-55 age group (7.2%) and those aged 55 and above (1.1%).
The survey also found that the majority (63.1%) of Paylater users utilize the service for online transactions. 16.5% use Paylater for offline transactions, and 20.4% use it for both.
“This aligns with the return to normalcy post-pandemic, with consumers resuming offline shopping,” Kredivo-KIC noted.
Kredivo and KIC conducted this survey on over 2 million Kredivo users across 34 Indonesian provinces. Online transaction data was gathered from five major marketplaces, while offline transaction data was collected from seven of the largest retail merchants across Indonesia in 2023.
