Coldplay Concert Sells Out: A Profile of Indonesian Music Concert Consumers

Coldplay will hold their *Music of The Spheres World Tour* concert at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, Jakarta, on November 15, 2023.

Ticket sales opened on Friday, May 19, 2023. However, within three hours, all tickets were sold out. This was despite the relatively high ticket prices, ranging from Rp800,000 to Rp11 million, excluding tax.

"All tickets for the Coldplay *Music of The Spheres World Tour* Jakarta are officially sold out," stated the official ticket sales website, *coldplayinjakarta.com* (19/5/2023).

According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the main market for concerts and music performances in Indonesia is the highest-spending group of people.

In a 2021 BPS survey, respondents from the top 20% of the population by expenditure who had attended a concert in the previous three months accounted for 52.43%.

Meanwhile, the proportion of concertgoers from the middle 40% and the lowest 40% of the population by expenditure was lower, as shown in the graph above.

BPS also noted that 54.93% of music concert consumers were university graduates, more than those with high school diplomas (53.09%), junior high school diplomas (51.23%), or elementary school diplomas (45.86%).

In terms of age, the majority (56.18%) were aged 16-30 years. The proportion for the 45-59 age group was 44.11%, while those aged 60 and above accounted for only 33.55%.
