According to the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) report, in 2020 the government distributed 8.5 million tons of subsidized fertilizer throughout Indonesia.

The subsidized fertilizer distributed in 2020 consisted of five types: urea fertilizer (3.9 million tons), NPK (2.6 million tons), ZA (797,000 tons), organic fertilizer (627,000 tons), SP-36 (576,000 tons), and special NPK (11,000 tons).

This reduction in subsidized fertilizer variants was stipulated in the Minister of Agriculture Regulation No. 10 of 2022, which was enacted in July 2022.

According to the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), during the first half of 2022, the government, through PT Pupuk Indonesia, had distributed 4.1 million tons of subsidized fertilizer.

The subsidized fertilizer was used for nine types of commodities: rice, corn, soybeans, chilies, shallots, garlic, sugarcane, cocoa, and coffee.
