3-Month Forward Nickel Commodity Price Rises Over the Last Three Days

The 3-month forward nickel commodity price for transactions on Friday, February 20, 2026 rose. Today's trading price for the 3-month forward nickel commodity contract was recorded at US$17,350 per ton. This figure is higher than the previous day's trading price of US$17,150 per ton. The current condition contrasts with the downward trend of the 3-month forward nickel commodity price over the last three days.

Over the past week, the 3-month forward nickel commodity price movement fell by -3.29% with an average daily trading price of US$17,160 per ton. Meanwhile, compared to its position 30 days ago, the nickel commodity price movement has fallen by -2.53%. Even from its highest price this year of US$18,975 per ton, the 3-month forward nickel commodity price has dropped by 8.56%.

Annually, the average trading price of the 3-month forward nickel commodity over the last five years has been on a downward trend. Meanwhile, for monthly price monitoring, transactions over the last 12 months tend to rise. The highest average monthly nickel commodity price was recorded in January 2026 at US$18,030 per ton.

As reported by Katadata, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan stated that the value of nickel and its derivative exports in 2015 was only US$3 billion. Nickel and its derivative exports are predicted to rise up to 20 times by 2025 due to the Indonesian government's downstreaming program. Luhut claims that the downstreaming program has made the national economy better and more stable. This is reflected in the equitable distribution of development within the country.
